THE PLAINFIELD-QUEEN CITY HISTORIC WALK/RUN FOR LIFE 5K & 1MILE VIRTUAL EVENT HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO NOVEMBER 21! ALL OTHER DETAILS ARE THE SAME.
Instead of participating in the event on the traditional 5K & 1 mile courses that meander through numerous communities (many historic) on the 2nd Saturday of October, this year you will have the option to be able to support the mission on a course of your choosing or even on your treadmill in order to support the worthy cause this year! We are also adding a new Open Run category where you can run or walk any distance at any location to be part of this year’s Historic event. The open run category allows you to choose the distance you run on the day, this can be as short or as long as you desire or feel up to. Please recognize all COVID-19 safety/social distancing requirements in your area. Stay safe.
As the 2nd Saturday in October
(10/10/20) was the traditional official race day, follow the Plainfield Walk Run Facebook page for information on additional elements of the
event we plan to organize for the big day. Training will be available in Plainfield on Saturdays and
anyone who is registered and shows up for training will receive a keepsake
T-shirt from a previous Plainfield-Queen City Historic Walk/Run for Life event (send email to: plainfieldwalkrun@gmail.com for more information). Again, it being a virtual event this year, registration will be open until November 20th. You have up
until November 21st to perform your run and upload your time.

The Mission (10 Years
Walking/Running for Lives):
Our mission remains built on 5 key pillars with
an addendum this year (due to the current societal environment) as follows: 1)
Promote Unity, 2) Awareness of one’s History & Legacy, 3)
Highlight/appreciate/build-on Beauty and Safety (positive aspects) of
community, 4) Promote Health & Wellness, 5) Raise Funds for Less Privileged
(especially youth & seniors). Addendum
[Run/Walk the Talk]: Promote national sensitivity of major societal ills
including: COVID-19 dangers, Social Justice, Prostate & Breast and other Cancers,
cardiovascular disease, other causes that you stand (or rather will run/walk
for). In other words you and/or your
organization can post YOUR cause with this historic event nationally. With that said, this year you can invite
family & friends nationally to join you in this worthy fundraising endeavor
because it is a virtual event (see details below.
Registration
Best your time! Instead of training/preparing for one (1)
day, you will have a window of 30 days. Registration
is now open. To register go to: www.raceforum.com/plainfieldwalkrun
You must turn in your time
between September 1st and November 21st. When you
register, you will be emailed a personal link to record your run time
directly into our system. Registration closes on November 21st.
Group entries will be able to enter
all the times on one page for their group or family. Once you have finished
your run, you just use that link to enter your time and distance (for open
run). Once you upload your time see how you did compared to other runners in
the Results section. Adding a time is not mandatory, if you want to just run
for fun that is absolutely fine too.
Students can participate as a School Group (by grade or school, with
Principal and/or Superintendent collaboration).
Organizations such as religious institutions, civic/community
organizations, and corporate teams can participate with a theme that will be
highlighted.
Race Entry:
- High School students & Younger - $15 + $2 processing fee, includes souvenir race shirt
- Adults - $25 + 2.50$ processing fee, includes souvenir-commemorative race shirt. For all entries received by November 1st, shirts will be available for pick-up prior to November 21st.
- NOTE*: if you want your shirt mailed, there will be a postage fee of $6.00 added.
For anyone who registers after November 1st, we will have a secondary pick-up/mailing date post-race, so
you can still get your souvenir race shirt.
* All entrants will receive a shirt; however due to the virtual aspect of the event
this year, and entries coming from across the country some will have their
T-shirt mailed to them [with a $6 postage fee].
Race Fundraising
All proceeds from this year’s race
will go towards High School Scholarships, and less privileged youth and senior
citizen organizations. We are seeking
sponsors and donations to help meet our goal of extending charitable benefits
to our children and seniors in need to “help promote our 5 pillars for lives.” Our
focus this year will be on needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
