Welcome to the official site for information on the Plainfield-Queen City Historic Walk/Run for Life event Going Virtual for 2020

Yes, you are the right place for information on the 2020 Plainfield-Queen City Historic Walk/Run for Life.  This is 10th annual and we are looking forward to the biggest and best event yet!  Our theme this year is, "Celebrating 150 years of Historic Sports and Progress".  As in years past the event is being held the 2nd Saturday (the 12th) in October. NOTE: Plainfield is celebrating it's 150 Anniversary and there are other events going on throughout the year.  Go to www.plainfieldnj.gov for more information on the 150th Anniversary.  Talk about an Autumn Classic!  Many of you who are returning will see friends, family, and colleagues you haven't seen since the last event.  In addition to the walk/run there will be music, vendors, entertainment, raffles, awards and more.

Awards (medals) will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers by gender and age group (in 10 year increments).  There will be a cash award for overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers by gender.
Also, there will be team awards (trophies) for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams in various divisions: religious category (Church's Mosque, Synagogues, etc.), civic and community organizations (fraternities, sororities, etc.), Plainfield Schools (elementary, middle, and high school levels), other open competitive class (any non-classified team competing with no restrictions), and Plainfield Police vs Fire department).  All teams scores will be based on best 4 members times and any number of members can be on a team.

On-line registration is available at the link on this site.  You can submit a hard copy of the registration form (see link on this site for hard copy) to Plainfield City Hall Annex (across from Plainfield City Hall (515 Watchung Avenue, Plainfield, NJ), or you can send registration (with check) to Plainfield Historic Walk/Run, P.O. Box 5001, Plainfield, New Jersey 07060.  Early registrations must be received by October 9th.

The Plainfield Historic 5K Course: The Plainfield-Queen City Historic Course will begin near Plainfield City Hall and will go directly past at least 7 of the 30 Historic sites in Plainfield (including the historic high school, the first public high school in New Jersey).  Be on the lookout for the various historic sites as you meander through the streets of Plainfield. They will be marked by flags!  There is also, a 1 mile fun walk/run for those who wish to take a brief course.

Same Day registration will begin at 8AM in front of Plainfield City Hall (515 Watchung Avenue).  The 1 mile fun run will begin at 9AM followed by the 5K (3.1 mile) at 9:30AM.  All registered participants will receive a runners bag filled with goodies!  The 5K course is USATF Certified, meaning it has been measured to the foot and can be used for official competition timing.  Your time will be digitally clocked by a computer chip on your runners bib and your time will be posted immediately after the race.

We are still accepting vendors and seeking sponsors.  See vendor/sponsorship options link on this site for more information and/or contact us at plainfieldwalkrun@gmail.com or call 908-405-0548.

The Plainfield-Queen City Historic Walk/Run for Life organization is a federal 501c3 non-profit and all proceeds go to less privileged youth, scholarships, and non-profit youth and senior programs.

So come out and enjoy this years benevolent autumn classic as we celebrate "150 years of Sports and Progress"!

Stop by this site often as we will be posting information up to the event.  You can post as well!
