To those who participated in the 2nd Annual (year 2012) beautiful Historic Queen City Walk/Run, a sincere thank you.  Hundreds dared the chilly early morning air on a clear sunny day to realize a wonderful event.  From the opening 2 selections of the award winning Plainfield Marching Band to the final lollipop run and closing award ceremony, the event was by all standards a success.  New to this years festivities was the performance of The Greater Central Jersey Mass Choir (who sang 2 emotionally moving selections), and the involvement of the historian from the Historical Society of Plainfield who spoke to the spectators of the many historical sights the walkers/runners were passing in route through the 5K (3.1 mile) course within Plainfield's business and residential areas.

Ms. Kamuela Tillman (professional singer) from Plainfield was riveting in her rendition of the national anthem.  The runners were warmed up with a Zumba instructor and the children seemed to especially enjoy it.  Speaking of children, all children in a Plainifeld school were given an opportunity to fund raise and sign a pledge for good citizenship and be eligible to participate for free.  The spectators enjoyed the free hotdogs, popcorn, hot chocolate, coffee and hot tea donated by many of the sponsors; all while shopping through the many vendors who sold their wares adjacent to City Hall.

Overall all 5 five "pillars" were attained with a show of Unity, Youth & Senior Citizen Advocacy, Highlighting the Beauty/Image of Plainfield, bringing about Health Awareness, and Raising Funds for Needy Youth and Seniors.

Thanks again to all who were supportive and involved, especially our walker/runners, 70+ volunteers, and many sponsors/vendors.

Be on the lookout soon on this website for the race results (all times) broken down by age and gender.  Send us your comments on plainfieldwalkrun@gmail.com or on this blog.

Peace and Blessings,
Darryl Clark - Event Founder/Committee Chairman
